Rudolf Firkusny Piano Festival - Garrick Ohlsson
- 19. 11. 2016
A pianist with legendary technique and a phenomenal memory, Garrick Ohlsson has been appearing on concert stages around the world for nearly fifty years. He launched his career by winning the Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1970. Literally overnight, Ohlsson became one of the most sought-after performers of the works of Frédéric Chopin, but his Prague recital will feature two of his other musical loves Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert. In 2008 he won the prestigious Grammy Award for his recording
of the complete Beethoven sonatas. A winner of the Avery Fisher Prize, his recipe for success is “be comprehensible and sincere, and don’t play music just for applause and profit.” He will be opening the fourth annual festival.
