Prague Spring 2017: The Vienna Philharmonic and Daniel Barenboim
- 12. 5. 2017
- 13. 5. 2017
The Viennese ensemble, regarded by many as the world’s top orchestra, will be making just its seventh visit to Prague Spring – and it will have the honor of opening the festival for the very first time.
Daniel Barenboim has truly conceived the thorough preparations for the festival’s opening concert on a grand scale. He has programmed Smetana’s Má vlast (My Country) on a subscription concert with the Staatskapelle Berlin on 12 and 13 December 2016 in Berlin. Just a few days later, he will be rehearsing the work with the Vienna Philharmonic, and he will be presenting it at concerts in Vienna, Paris, and Cologne (16 – 21 December). He will also be playing Má vlast with the Vienna Philharmonic on 11 May 2017 in Munich, and after the opening concerts of Prague Spring, he will be playing the work in Linz and again in Vienna.
