The Czech Glassmaking School Presents
- 14. 9. 2016 – 31. 12. 2016
Together with the Glass School Nový Bor, we cordially invite you to the Moser Art Gallery in the Old Town Square to view the Czech Glassmaking School Presents exhibition. The exhibition will present the works from the school’s teachers, who are leading glass artists in their own right: Stanislava Grebeníčková, Milan Handl, MgA. Jiří Suchý and fourteen students from the school.
Professional glass schools have a long tradition in the Czech Republic and are of vital importance for glass production and its artistic culture. The ‘school to teach drawing and modelling to apprentices, journeymen and masters of the glassmaking craft’ was founded in 1870 in Nový Bor and soon became a respected institution setting new artistic trends and significantly contributing to the technological development of Czech glass.
Currently the school provides all three stages of education in glass working - higher education, secondary education and apprenticeships in all aspects of glassmaking. In the one hundred and forty-six years of its existence a number of successful glass-makers, technologists and outstanding artists have passed through its doors.
