František Skála: Riding School

National Gallery in Prague – Wallenstein Riding School (Národní galerie v Praze – Valdštejnská jízdárna), Valdštejnská 3, Praha 1 - Malá Strana, 118 00

10. 3. 2017 – 3. 9. 2017

The exhibition will introduce to the works by František Skála created from 2004 to present. The artist based its presentation principle on several originally conceived pavilions or, “museums in a museum”. The exhibition can be understood as an overview of his thematic displays when one seemingly questions the previous one as well as the established idea about Skála’s oeuvre. The whole, however, will ultimately reveal a hidden order, a world opinion, a subject of artistic interest and an exploration which Skála seeks to articulate as precisely as possible via his work. In the authorship architectural concept, based on the space of the Waldstein Riding School, Skála will prepare a complex experience for visitors. It will contain the individual exhibition pavilions, solitary monumental works, subject series and cycles, light installations, and private records and passions, but also works created specifically for the space of the Riding School.
