- 15. 6. 2017 – 15. 9. 2017
A retrospective exhibition, on the occasion of what would have been Miloslav Troup´s 100th birthday.
An unjustly forgotten painter, who pursued painting, printing as well as book illustration. He received many awards particularly for his illustrations. It has been estimated that his work comprises approximately 700 paintings and almost 3,000 illustrations.
Troup studied at the École des Beaux arts and École des Arts décoratifs in Paris in the late 40´s and in 50´s he returned to the Czechoslovakia. His work was not in line of what that regime wanted, however Troup remained painting and creating daily. Concerning applied art, one can find out that he designed stained glass, tapestries, chandeliers and lamps from stained glass and painted furniture.
The centrepiece of the exhibition will be a portrait of Jacquelin Kennedy (before Lee Bouvier), who also studied in Paris and she was probably his model and love.
The exhibition will offer an extensive look at his works – there will be put on displays not only his pictures but also for example furniture, which he decorated; draft of artworks and photographs.
