Museum Kampa, U Sovových mlýnů 2, Praha 1 - Malá Strana, 118 00
- 29. 4. 2017 – 20. 8. 2017
Adolf Born became known to the public as a cartoonist, illustrator, designer and painter. He merged graphics with cartoons and so he arrived at a new artistic expression. His cosmopolitan humour, his selection of topics rooted in the history of his country (Austro-Hungarian monarchy or the Rudolfinian period) and finally his special world of animals made him famous all over the world. He illustrated hundreds of books, worked for theatre as costume and set designer and in animation movies. There's asteroid 17806 Adolfborn named for him.
This exhibition will put focus on his free creation. For the first time, there will be introduced a collection of his lithographs from 60’s. Furthermore, there will be put on display his china ink drawings created during his travels, capturing the local atmosphere in a unique way. His work with colour and light could be best observed in the collection of his pastel pieces. Last but not least you can look forward to the projection of cartoon films which have been awarded many times by domestic and international prizes and original illustrations (including the ones from fairy tales and poems by Christian Morgenstern).
