The First Republic – Czechoslovakia was a state formed after WW1, in autumn 1918, after the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was founded thanks to the top Czech politicians lead by the future President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. In the twenties of the 20th century, it belonged to the top ten industrial powers in the world. This early stability paved the way for a flowering of Czech literature and culture. In this period, the Czech Radio started broadcasting; Czech experienced a boom in film production.
The exhibition will lead visitors on a journey through this period and it consists of 13 thematic sections (incl. film industry, art, fashion, sport, politics, business and more).
It will feature costumes from the renowned Czechoslovakia designer of that time, Hana Havelková, who worked for many of the then celebrities. Furthermore, there will be also costumes from the series concerning the First Republic.
One can also look forward for a stylish café or the well-known (Baťa´s) adverts.
