The opera superstar Cecilia Bartoli & the famous Argentinean violoncellist Sol Gabetta in an attractive joint project “Baroque Arias for Voice and Violoncello” in December 2017.

The opera superstar Cecilia Bartoli needs no long introductions. She’s been a guest of the World Opera Stars in Prague series several times, and each time she brought a unique project: Vivaldi ritrovato (9th June 2011), Sacrificium (16th October 2011), Mozart & Viennese Classics (& Kammerorchester Basel with Muhai Tang, 13th November 2013), Cecilia Bartoli & I Barocchisti & Diego Fasolis (24th November 2014), and finally Cecilia Bartoli & Rolando Villazón (& Orchestra La Scintilla, 6th December 2015). Cecilia Bartoli is famous for her unique projects for Decca Classics: The Vivaldi Album, Italian Arias (Gluck), The Salieri Album, Opera proibita, Maria, Sacrificium, Mission, and St Petersburg – all of these CDs received numerous prizes and awards, including five Grammy’s. Cecilia Bartoli sings in the most important concert halls in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. In 2012, she’s been appointed the Artistic Director of the Salzburg Whitsun Festival where she also assumed the roles of Bellini’s Norma (2013), Maria in Bernstein’s West Side Story (2016); this year she will be Elena in Rossini’s Donna del lago. She performed at the Metropolitan Opera New York, Royal Opera Covent Garden, La Scala Milan, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, in the opera in Zurich, and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Cecilia Bartoli received numerous musical awards, including the Léonie Sonning Music Prize (2010), Herbert von Karajan Prize (2012), and Polar Prize, which is considered a Noble Prize for music (2016).

Sol Gabetta from Argentina is a laureate of the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, and ARD in Munich. She received Gramophone Award for young artists and ECHO Klassik Awards in 2007, 2009, 2013 and 2016, being named Instrumentalist of the Year in 2013. At the age of three, she started taking violin lessons, and one year later violoncello lessons. She won her first competition when she was ten years of age. Now-a-days, she performs with front symphonic orchestras and conductors (Vienna Philharmonics /Valery Gergiev, Berlin Philharmonics /Simon Rattle, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, etc.) and at festivals in Baden-Baden, Lucerne, Salzburg, Verbier, etc. She introduced herself at chamber concerts and recitals in Wigmore Hall, London and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris. She founded her own Chamber Solsberg Festival in Switzerland. Due to the Swiss scholarship Rahn Kulturfonds, she plays the rate Giovanni Battista Guadagnini instrument from 1759. Since 2005, she teaches at the musical academy in Basel, where she also lives.
