The two notoriously clumsy handymen were created by illustrator and artist Lubomír Beneš, dramaturgist Jiří Kubíček and artist Vladimír Jiránek in 1976. Together they sent them to the world with their first story called “Fitters”. The series, better known as “... And that is done!”, was the first broadcast in 1979 but the characters didn’t get their names – Pat & Mat – until ten years later.
What will you find at the exhibition?
You can become part of Pat &Mat’s world thanks to trick photography and 3D illusions. Visitors will be able to try light art – for which the Ta Fantastika theater and artist Alex Dowis are best known – at a light-art show workshop. The mysterious Phenakistoscope will give you an idea of how animated movies were once made. All is allowed – take photos, touch everything and enjoy! There are no limits to interactivity and imagination.
