Strings of Autumn: The Gloaming
- 20. 10. 2017
The Gloaming are a perfect fit for the festival philosophy of the Strings of Autumn. They are firmly based in a musical crossroad of styles, where the melancholic tones of traditional Irish music blend with modern shades of jazz and contemporary classical and experimental compositions. Although “the gloaming” is the time of dusk, the band is more of a ray of light on the current scene. The authenticity of their expression is guaranteed by the depth of immersement of each of the band’s members in the traditions of Irish music. Violinists Martin Hayes and Caoimhin Ó Raghallaigh and singer Iarla Ó Lionáird devoted themselves to the music of their culture in their early childhood, and they are among the few to have succeeded in finding their own distinctive sound. In their search for exquisite harmony and impeccable focus, The Gloaming have joined forces with New York pianist and producer Thomas Bartlett (Doveman) and Chicago guitarist Dennis Cahill.
