The exhibition will present the Theatre Photography from the second half of the 19th century. It is one of the events which are organised in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary from the declaration of Czechoslovakia. It is prepared by the Arts and Theatre Institute and the National Museum.
The main theme of the exhibition will be capturing the action of a performance in traditional theatres and also in the public space. Further on, it will explore the use of photography by theatres, such as the use of photographs for advertising purposes or as stage elements.
The aim of the project is to present the Czech Theatre Photography as it has developed from the 19th century till nowadays. In the first hall, you will see photographs illustrating the history of Czech theatre photography; the second exhibition area will be devoted to the Czech contemporary theatre photography.
