The Cimbalom Ensemble of the Czech Philharmonic has been in existence for nearly twenty years. It long operated as a pick-up group for friendly gatherings. The impetus for more intensive work was the Prague appearance by the famous singer Bobby McFerrin, who chose the Cimbalom Ensemble as a partner for his Dvořák Hall concert at the Rudolfinum in 2013. Most of the ensemble’s members have had experience of some kind with performing folk music, but it should be said that with the exception of two Moravians, we are Prague natives, and we are also professional musicians with classical training. At our concerts, you will hear Baroque music, folk music from all over central Europe, and even music by Classical composers in arrangements made to order for our ensemble.
