Juliana Höschlová & Marta Antoniak: Bulimia Cocktail Party
NoD Experimental Space, Dlouhá 33, Praha 1 - Staré Město, 110 00
- 18. 8. 2017 – 8. 9. 2017
The exhibition will present a unique first-time cooperation of two artists from the emerging generations of the Czech and Polish art scenes who are related by the similar socio-cultural backgrounds: Juliana Höschlová (CZ) and Marta Antoniak (PL).
Juliana Höschlová (*1987) is known to the Czech public for her intensive body-related performances and engaged conceptual drawings and videoart in the past years dealing mostly with the critique of the mass culture, practices of consumerism and media manipulation. Marta Antoniak (*1986) is a painter and PhD candidate at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts. Her painting practice has in the past years evolved into the form of a unique relief making; using piles of melted plastic toys from Kinder Surprise collections, tattoos from chewing gums and other artifacts well known to the generation which was growing up in the 90’s in post communist Europe, she creates playful and yet disturbing assemblages balancing on the edge of kitsch.
The common exhibition of Juliana and Marta related to the addiction for consuming (material, informational, emotional, etc.) and consequent omnipresent feeling of "oversaturation" which makes us throw up.
