The exhibition of historical photographs from the Prague City Archives´ collection presents the photographs taken by the legendary founder of the Prague´s studio „H. Eckert“and his successors. More than 200 large-format photographs were created from glass plate negatives which were made in 1863-1926.
The founder of the studio, Jindřich Eckert (1833–1905) was one of the pioneer of photography and a distinguished cultural and political person in Prague. Using his camera, he wanted to capture the changes and beauty of Prague and Bohemia and his successors did this too.
The exhibition will feature the well-known pictures of Prague and also yet-unpublished pictures which has been found recently. Visitors will see the original catalogue, the list with offers, the original pictures as well as negatives and Eckert´s publications.
A publication featuring 3500 pictures from H. Eckert Studio has been released and is available at the exhibition.
