World of Franz Kafka

The exhibition is located in the Romantic basement of the Prague City Council, just a few steps from the place where Franz Kafka was born in 1883. The basement, in which two completely different building styles interact, just highlight your surrealist experience here. Kafka’s personal views will lead you into a world, where is no space for questions and no one waits for their answers.

Practical information

Architecture part:

People today lack the spiritual dimension of perceiving reality. In Prague it is difficult to find a place to look beyond the horizon of everyday understanding. In 1905, two original medieval houses were accidentally demolished here. In 1926–1928, a new modern five-storey building was erected here. Two distinct building styles interact here.

Prague – a lively spot:

54 monitors stream moving pictures, rumble, noises and music…do not expect a story – it does not feature a beginning or an end. It is similar to an interstellar space where you can not come to a meeting early or late.

Picture gallery:

The pictures capture patterns of common human behaviour.
