František Drtikol: All From Within
Tibet Open House, Školská 28, Praha 1 - Nové Město, 110 00
- fr 24. 5. 2019 – sø 18. 8. 2019
The exhibition presents unique prints of František Drtikol, created thanks to the zinc plates found in his heritage. They are inspired by his drawings from 1917-1919, when he could not take photographs. To print the new etchings, French Charbonnel colours and Holandian handmade paper were used.
František Drtikol (1883-1961) was one of the most renowned Czech photographers. In the first half of the 20th century he created also several prints – while employing different techniques such as bromoil and oil pigment printing, and also his own one – photolithography.
His prints and drawings deal with two main topics – Golgotha and Mother Earth. His other topics include Way, Vanitas, Salome, dancing ancient motifs, Egyptian stylisation, and worship of goddesses.
