Old Town Square

  • open air

The most famous Easter markets in the Czech Republic will transform the center of Prague into a colorful spring scene and draw you into a world of folk traditions and Easter celebrations. Dozens of stylish stalls will offer handmade decorations, Easter whips, painted eggs, and a colorful selection of seasonal treats—from Easter bread and gingerbread to Czech sausages and other specialties. The atmosphere will be enhanced by a rich folklore and music program under a symbolically decorated birch tree, which will bring the historic city center to life every day. Come be inspired, enjoy yourself, and absorb the Easter spirit at one of the most visited markets in the capital.

The viewing bridge will once again be the centerpiece of the market on Old Town Square.

At their stalls, producers, artisans, and vendors will offer typical Easter goods and gifts—various types of Easter eggs, including blown, wooden, and wire-wrapped eggs, as well as Easter whips, crocheted tablecloths, ceramics with Easter motifs, and products made of wicker, palm leaves, and straw.

The unmistakable charm of the Easter holidays is also created by culinary specialties. Vendors will offer traditional Easter and spring delicacies, as well as vegetarian, vegan, and select gluten-free dishes. Popular Czech meat sausages, fragrant gingerbread cookies, and green beer will also be available.

Program

The program takes place every day on Old Town Square from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On weekends, there are also Easter workshops for children from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Visitors can look forward to folklore and ethnographic ensembles, dulcimer music, brass bands, choirs and dance groups, as well as theatrical performances. The program will also include an international folklore festival on March 28.

On Easter Monday, the organizers will also prepare a special program for children that will introduce them to traditional Czech Easter customs.
