Have a read

The Accessible Prague page was created for all visitors to Prague whose current physical or sensory disadvantages make it challenging to move around in urban settings.  For those of you who are going on a short-term visit to the Czech capital we have prepared a handy summary of information and tips to enhance your stay – from accessible accommodation, accessible monuments, gardens, cultural buildings, dining out or shopping, right down to practical information about moving around the city.

Barrier-free routes

Prague offers captivating experiences and attractive outings even for visitors with physical or sensory difficulties. On this page we have prepared several such routes to meet the needs of handicapped visitors. Recommended routes with varying degrees of difficulty lead not only through the historical centre, but also through some lesser-known attractive parts of our capital city.
Although the routes are intended primarily for people using mechanical or electric wheelchairs, they can also be a source of inspiration for parents with strollers and seniors with reduced mobility. Prague City Tourism prepared in cooperated with the Department of Transport of the City of Prague and the Prague Wheelchair Users Organization.

The routes are also available in downloadable (1 and 2format, and the first of the two brochures in updated printed form, at the PCT tourist information centres, free of charge.

Guided tours

Prague from a bird’s eye view is the name of a private guided tour through the historical centre of the Old Town, which Prague City Tourism has prepared for you. It is fully adapted to the needs of visitors with physical or sensory impairments, not missing out on any notable places to visit.

A private guided tour can also be arranged to suit your individual wishes and requirements. We will be happy to advise you on choosing a suitable route to ensure your Prague visit will be a fine and memorable experience.

Accessibility map

For your easier orientation in the city, we recommend our digital map of the accessibility of buildings and public spaces with mobility restrictions in mind. Using a traffic light symbol system, the buildings are categorized as accessible, partially accessible and inaccessible. Users can find practical information about the accessibility of a given building based on the type of civic amenities it offers (cultural domain, offices, services, social services, health care, ATMs, sports, restaurant facilities, etc.) Each mapped building is also characterized by 11 pictograms that describe the gradient and surface of passageways, any stairs, narrow doorways, accessible toilets and other important information for greater visitor comfort.
The map was created in cooperation with IPR, MHMP and the Prague Wheelchair Users Organization.
