Accommodation

You can choose your accommodation in Prague based on a number of criteria: accessibility to sights, proximity to public transport, the atmosphere and reputation of the accommodation or the price. If your priorities include protecting the environment and striving for sustainability, you can use one of the sustainable buildings for your stay here.

  • Mosaic House was the first hotel in the Czech Republic to come up with a system for reusing grey water.
  • Botanique - a modern hotel inspired by nature.
  • Campsites consume significantly less energy and water during their operation than a hostel or hotel.

Hotel Adalbert

If you love history, yet care about a sustainable present, then Hotel Adalbert is the ideal choice for you. You will find it in the Břevnov Monastery, the oldest Czech monastery with a history stretching back more than a thousand years. At the same time, Adalbert is the first accommodation facility in the Czech Republic to receive both Czech and European certification as an environmentally-friendly hotel. This certification requires strict adherence to sustainability rules: the hotel does not use any air conditioning, the water flow from taps and showers does not exceed 9 litres per minute, the heating is regulated separately in each room, etc.

Hotel Occidental Prague

Just as willingly as the Benedictines of Břevnov, you will be welcomed by another hotel with ecological sustainability certification, the Occidental Prague, a member of the Barceló Hotel Group. This year, it was awarded the Green Stay Initiative certificate at the highest A level. The certification is sponsored by the Hotel Reservation Service and undergoes a rigorous assessment specific to the hotel industry, looking at both the carbon footprint and  water management. If this is the right water for your mill, choose the Occidental Hotel in Krč.

Hotel Adria

If you prefer to stay in the very centre of the city, your choice is probably the "green hotel" Adria. The designation is in line with its environmentally responsible operations, for which it has won numerous awards - most recently from Wayaj, the world's first app focused on environmentally and socially responsible hotels. Adria's approach to protecting nature and the surrounding area convincingly demonstrates that an eco-friendly hotel does not have to be in the middle of the wilderness, but can work just as well in the centre of one of Europe's most important metropolises.

Botanique Hotel Prague

On the artery connecting the central bus terminal with the important main railway station, you will find Botanique Hotel Prague, another hotel with a sustainable approach in the centre of Prague. It follows the principles of the Be Green programme: It does not use disposable plastics, offers only organic toiletries, rooms are equipped with energy saving systems and accommodation and conference areas use LED lighting. And you can charge your electric car for free in the hotel garage. As the client, you can in some way determine the level of nature conservation, e.g. by requesting the frequency of changing bed linen or towels.

Mosaic House

Another hotel in the centre with an environmentally friendly approach is the Mosaic House Hotel. It is the first hotel in the Czech Republic to use 100 percent renewable electricity. It employs a grey water recycling system and energy efficient lighting, occupancy-based room temperature control along with flow-controlled toilets and showers. Its philosophy is: it is possible to be environmentally friendly without guests having to give up comfort.

Hilton Prague and Hilton Prague Old Town

For the most demanding clientèle, there are the renowned Hilton hotels - Hilton Prague and Hilton Prague Old Town. They are also aware of their environmental responsibility, and although they have not yet achieved official sustainability certification, their sustainability strategy is evident in their operations. For example, both have begun offering zero-carbon meetings and events at no additional cost to the client. The initiative is part of the corporate project "Travel with Purpose", which aims to halve its ecological footprint and double its social impact by 2030.

Campsites

On the imaginary opposite pole of user comfort from Hilton hotels lie Prague’s campsites. Most of them can be found in the Troja district, but you can also find them in other peripheries of the metropolis: in Dolní Chabry, Dolní Počernice, Klánovice, Třebonice or Divoká Šárka. How deep an ecological footprint you leave will largely depend on you. Experience the romance of wilderness in places where you might not expect it.
