Vintage Tram

Our historic tram No. 42, which is electric powered, is an ecological alternative to hop on hop off buses. Experience the nostalgia of the old days and take a tour of Prague aboard a tram from the times of the Austro-Hungarian Empire or the 1950s and 1960s. The ticket is valid for 24 hours, so you can get on and off as often as you like. You can experience Prague in slow motion, at your own pace.

The nostalgic tram No. 42 passes through the most beautiful places of the Prague Monument Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along the following route:

Dlabačov - Pohořelec - Brusnice - Prague Castle - Královský letohrádek - Malostranská - Faculty of Law - Čechův most - Dlouhá třída - Náměstí Republiky - Masarykovo Station - Jindřišská - Wenceslas Square - Vodičkova - Lazarská - Národní třída - the National Theatre - Újezd - Hellichova - Malostranské náměstí - Malostranská - Královský letohrádek - Prague Castle - Brusnice - Pohořelec - Dlabačov

The oldest tram that serves Line 42 is the 240 motor tram, built in 1908. The tram is unmistakable by the profiled rosette around the reflector and the shaping of the tram’s front, which has become a typical design of Prague trams. These trams were produced from the year 1905 in a successively upgraded series over a period of twenty-eight years. They belonged to the colour and vibrancy of Prague streets until 1974. Inside the tram you will find wooden seats in a partially transverse arrangement and the entrances to the vehicle are not secured by moving doors.
