Transport

You can explore Prague comfortably, quickly and at the same time sustainably. There is an extensive public transport network, shared emission-free single-occupancy vehicles and countless hiking and cycling routes.

  • Electric, completely silent and emission-free - the Bella Bohemia.
  • Due to its capacity and speed, the metro is one of the most environmentally friendly urban transport systems.
  • The dense network of modern public transport fully replaces individual car transport.
  • Following the example of other developed cities, Prague tries to offer a combination of different modes of moving around the city in a sustainable way.
  • The route of the nostalgic number 42 tram line runs through the historic centre of Prague and operates on a hop-on, hop-off basis.

Park and ride

If you're heading to Prague by car, even just for a one-day visit, be sure to use the P+R car parks where you simply leave your car and continue your journey using the city’s excellent public transport system.

Metro - a gallery in public space

If you prefer fast and comfortable transport to a continuous view, definitely use the Prague Metro. It is very easy to navigate, safe and, thanks to the original decoration of many stations, it is also like a large art gallery in the public space. Don't miss the opportunity to get acquainted with unique works of art, especially from the 1970s and 1980s. For surface rail transport, we recommend trams and trains. Prague's tram network also includes the nostalgic line No. 42, on which historic carriages are deployed.

Shared emission-free mobility

If you want to get around Prague, and especially the city centre in a more bohemian way than in a metro carriage, take advantage of the wide range of shared bikes and scooters on offer, both conventional and electric. In addition to minimal environmental impact, they also offer you great time flexibility and maximum accessibility to places otherwise difficult to reach. There are several services in Prague that rent single-occupancy vehicles to you via mobile apps. Locations and rules vary from company to company. Shared pink bikes from Rekola can be used in the wider city centre, while the blue bikes from Nextbike can also be used in selected suburbs of Prague. You can recognize Bolt’s shared electric bikes by their green design, while the red ones are from Lime.

The system of Prague cycle paths and trails is described on the website Prague by bike. You can also use the City by Bike map - cycling map for Prague and the whole Czech Republic or the application for cyclists Prague by bike, which will help you find the most suitable route around the city according to detailed data. Always deposit used bikes and scooters in designated areas marked with appropriate signs.

Travelling on the waves

Boat trips have a touch of romance; choose electric-powered boats, such as those from the Prague Boats fleet: Marie d'Bohemia (glass catamaran), Bella Bohemia (the first fully electric boat in its class) or smaller boats with electric motors - Mistr Jan Hus, Elvira, Elektronemo or Shemik. It is also possible to sail on the river on rowing boats or pedaloes. For example there are rental shops on Střelecký ostrov.

On foot or by horse-drawn carriage

Prague has a large network of pedestrian zones, explore the historic centre on foot, relax on the ubiquitous benches or in stylish bistros and garden restaurants.
If you want to be transported back to the days of top hats and starched petticoats, then opt for a ride in one of the horse-drawn carriages that take visitors through Prague's conservation area.
