October 28 / The exhibition commemorating the declaration of Czechoslovakia
Municipal House (Obecní dům), náměstí Republiky 5, Praha 1 - Staré Město, 111 21
- Fri 28. 9. 2018 – Mon 31. 12. 2018
The Municipal House was not built just as a representative seat of the Prague City Hall but also as a place which should be used in order to support cultural and social life of the town or Czech citizens. During the WW 1, it played an important role in the history of the Czech state, there were held many caritative and political events which openly supported the foundation of the independent Czech state. The last war months the Czech Gentlemen Club (Čecký pánský klub) gave permission to the Czechoslovak National Committee to use its rooms. The representatives of the Czechoslovak National Committee issued here the first law of the new republic and also accepted here the capitulation of the Austrian army. Right here, in this venue, the Prague City Archives in cooperation with the Municipal Hall are preparing an exhibition which commemorates this crucial period of Czechoslovak history.
