The Slav Epoic is a monumental work, which has no equivalent. Alfons Mucha´s aim was to create a guide through the Czech and other Slavic nations’ history. He painted 20 large-format pictures in a studio at the Zbiroh castle from 1912 to 1926. The epic was given to the capital city Prague and it was exhibited for the first time in the Prague City Gallery in 1928. During WW2, it was hidden, after the war it was exposed for a long time in the Moravský Krumlov chateau. From 2012-2016 visitors of the Veletržní Palace (National Gallery in Prague) have the possibility to admire it here. Then, for a short time it was loaned.

In order to commemorate the 100th anniversary from the declaration of Czechoslovakia, a part of the epic is displayed in the Municipal House. Visitors will see 11 smaller canvas due to size limitations.
