“Dance does not only serve to express joy, sorrow and emotional states of mind, it can also be a prayer, a ritual, therapy or intellectual structure. In limitless ways, dance is capable of depicting the abstract and reality alike. And when done professionally, it is as though the dancer were saying: I am a work of art!” (Jiří Kylián)

The ballet evening is dedicated to the work of Jiří Kylián, a renowned choreographer born in the Czech Republic who gained international fame. In the season 2019/2020 we offer a new element within the structure of the evening — a Czech premiere of Kylián’s choreography Gods and Dogs, one of Kylián’s newer productions. As part of the evening you will also see three other works of Jiří Kylián — Bella Figura, Petite Mort and Sechs Tänze.

„I am glad Jiří Kylián chose these particular works for Prague stage, they are very sensitive and undoubtedly belong to his best creations,” says Filip Barankiewicz, the artistic director of the Czech National Ballet.
