Krásná jizba, founded as a branch of the Družstevní práce publishing house at the end of 1927, belonged to the most important Czech institutions focused on housing culture and design in the first half of the 20th century.
At the exhibition, visitors will see design items made from different materials. There will be showcased glass drinking sets or vases designed by Ladislav Sutnar, Ludvika Smrčková, Adolf Loos; the exquisite Ladislav Sutnar‘s porcelain dining set, ceramic ware of Alois Vondráček, Jindřich Eckert and others. Home textile will be presented by works of Antonín Kybal, Slávka Vondráčková and Božena Pošepná. Furniture and other interior accessories will be exhibited to a lesser extent.
The visual style and promotional strategy of the Krásná Jizba will be unveiled by documentaries, promotional prints, periodicals and photographs of Josef Sudek, Gabriel Urbánek and the Illek and Paul Company.
