František Kaván: A Czech Year Through Landscapes
The Kooperativa Gallery (Galerie Kooperativy), Pobřežní 21, Praha 8 - Karlín, 186 00
- Tue 24. 4. 2018 – Sun 7. 10. 2018
The exhibition presents the oeuvre of František Kaván. It is the largest exhibition of his work since 1941; 141 exhibits are showcased in the Kooperativa Gallery.
There are presented works from public as well as private collections. The focus is put more on large-format works, in which the painter masterfully depicted the topographical diversity, various atmospheric conditions as well as the natural wealth of Czech lands.
Kaván´s teacher was Julius Mařák, a distinguished Czech landscape painter; he was also influenced by Adolf Kosárek and Antonín Chittussi. Kaván created more than 4000 paintings, most of them display mountain areas, such as Krkonoše and Vysočina.
