Restaurant Michal

Michal is a family-friendly restaurant located just a few steps from Charles Bridge. The restaurant hosts live evening performances of folk music, with costumed dancers and a ‘cimbalom’ [dulcimer or zither] band. Also on the premises you’ll find a collection of historical hand-embroidered folk costumes and period original paintings. The combination of a folk-cultural experience, a homely setting and gourmet specialities makes for satisfied and enthusiastic guests.

Practical information

  • Folk evenings with dance and music are usually held on selected dates from 7 pm to 10 pm, with a cimbalom band playing throughout; a choice of two menus, unlimited drinks (beer, wine, soft drinks), and home-made bread and rolls are served with all dishes.Booking ahead required.
  • An unparalleled collection of folk costumes and paintingsWithin the restaurant are paintings and graphics by leading folk-art painters. In the main hall are displayed graphic sheets by the folk painter Jožka Úprka (1861-1940). Guests can also see, displayed in glass cabinets, vintage original hand-embroidered folk costumes and their parts and accessories, sourced from western Bohemia through to eastern Slovakia.
