The Rudolfinum makes an impressive edifice, built as a cultural and social centre for the metropolis by architects Josef Zítek and Josef Schulz in 1885. Between 1919-1939 the building housed the Chamber of Deputies of the National Assembly. The former Concert Hall became the Parliamentary debating chamber right up till the dramatic days of imposed Nazi power.
