Prague Castle - Great South Tower of the Cathedral (Velká jižní věž katedrály)
The panorama of Prague Castle is dominated by the almost 100 meters high Great South Tower of St. Vitus Cathedral. The construction of the tower was started by the architect Peter Parler already at the end of the 14th century, however, it was not completed until the Neo-Gothic reconstruction of the cathedral at the end of the 19th century. The climb of more than 280 steps presents 7 bells, among them the largest bell in the Czech Republic – Zikmund, from 1549. After conquering almost 300 steps, you will be rewarded with a unique view of the capital and Prague Castle complex.

The last entry to the tower is half an hour before the end of the opening hours.
The tower is closed in case of bad weather.

Practical information
- The tower is accessible from Courtyard III by the entrance to the left of the Golden Gate.
- Tickets can be purchased at the Prague Castle Information Centre or on the ground floor of the tower.
