Why Study in Prague?

Let the centuries-old creative milieu of Prague captivate you, and join Kepler, Mozart, Beethoven, Einstein, Tesla, Kafka, Havel, and others on the extensive list of scientists and artists, who studied or worked in Prague. We could hardly imagine the world of today without their ideas and inventions. Contact lenses, nylon, the propeller and nanofibers - all these discoveries saw the light of day here.

It was Prague where Kepler found mathematical justification for the claim that the Earth rotates around the Sun, and where Einstein calculated the effect of the gravitational field on the curvature of the path of light rays. The “Mother of Cities” gradually became a major university centre and has been welcoming talented students with promising futures to this day.

Top Universities

No matter whether your interests lie in medicine, international business, social sciences, environment protection, chemistry, or physics; if your goal is to hone your skills in mathematics, food, agriculture, film directing, architecture, informatics, or journalism,  there is a university here for you.

Nobel Prize laureate and chemist Jaroslav Heyrovský and writers Franz Kafka and Max Brod were all graduates of the Charles University, one of the oldest universities in Europe. Albert Einstein even relocated from Zurich to Prague to commence his full professorship in theoretical physics at this university.

Most of the highest ranked academic institutions in the Czech Republic are located in Prague and it’s no wonder that world-renowned artists have likewise studied here. The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague was the alma mater of playwright and the first post-communist president Václav Havel, film director Miloš Forman and legendary stop-motion animation filmmaker Jan Švankmajer, while Otto Wichterle, the inventor of contact lenses, graduated from the University of Chemistry and Technology and created his first prototypes there.
