- 星期五 07.09.2018 – 星期日 20.01.2019
The extensive exhibition presents Kupka´s work from his earliest pieces created in 1890´s till his abstract works from 50´s. The exhibition consists of different thematised parts, which help visitors to follow the Kupka´s journey from symbolism to abstraction. The retrospective exhibition puts a stress on his symbolist paintings, expressionist portraits, colour verticals, a language of colours and shapes, mechanism and geometrical abstraction. His works on paper will show him as a satirical drawer and a great illustrator, an artist interested in philosophy, religion, antics and science.
At the exhibition you will see a unique collection of oil paintings, works on paper, graphic prints and documentational material. Except of the works from the National Gallery in Prague, there are loans from the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Guggenheim Museum in New York or Albertina. The exhibition has been prepared by the National Gallery in cooperation with the Reunion de musées nationaux Grand Palais and the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki.
